Eek! In a week, I'll be bald again! I'm looking forward to it this year because this blue is not pleasing me at all. It fades so quickly that I have green tips in no time! I redid it tonight so that I'm plenty blue tomorrow because there are some kids coming by to present me a check from their SHARE fund and they want a picture for their family Facebook. These two kids are 8 and 6 and they're giving me somewhere around $100. Can you believe that? For Christmas (THIS CHRISTMAS) they donated almost $700 to our local animal shelter. Their parents started them on one of those 1/3 save, 1/3 spend and 1/3 share programs and they've donated A TON of money. I'm so excited to get to send in their check to St. Baldrick's and see their name on the website! And it all started because the little girl complimented my hair. As always, I explained why I was blue and why I would soon by bald and she thought that was pretty cool, too, although she wanted to make her hair blue and not shave it off but suggested that her brother might want to shave his off. *grins* How nice of her to volunteer him! They're definitely a family I'm going to keep in touch with and perhaps see if they want to shave/volunteer at the event next year.

I've received some truly amazing donations this year that just have me flabbergasted! The change buckets that I've had up at the store I work at have gotten over $100! That's not counting the two that I have back at the Pharmacy that we point to when we talk about it. And I say we because my coworkers talk up this thing like crazy! Beth asked if she could have one of my "Ask Me Why I'm Bald" pins so she could change it to say "Ask Me Why She's Bald" which I think may have to be a thing!

And to all of you here at LiveJournal that have donated, I would like to extend a huge THANK YOU! I would give you all hugs if I could! I know that we don't "see" each other the way that friends might "see" each other on a daily basis, having coffee and scones and whatever it is that RL friends do, but I figure I see you here more than I see most everyone else in my life save my parents so you're all just as much my friends as anyone I might reach out and hit in the arm in a friendly sort of gesture.

This is a fund raiser and I would be remiss if I didn't put the link to my donation page here in this post about St. Baldricks: It's here and you can find my current hair color picture and a link to the kids I'm honoring (one of them is a 5 year old that our family knows personally from where we live that was diagnosed last year with leukemia) and any information that you'd like to know about the organization. Yes, it's a real organization! Yes, people around the US shave their head at local event and raise money for childhood cancer research. Yes, my hair really is blue. Yes, you can do it, too! Or you could volunteer if you're not keen on shaving your hair off. Or you could start an event where you are!

I usually live tweet the event but I'm not sure if I'm going to this year because I haven't used Twitter as much lately. We will attempt a video. I'm not sure where last year's ended up and the year before it didn't show up well. The first year that I shaved is still up on YouTube (look up Larinzia and I think it's the only video I've ever posted). Fun times!

Oh... and not so fun times... I lost most every game we played this weekend. I think I got three out of twelve. *pouts*
