*falls over dead*

I got all excited tonight because I remembered that most libraries have e-books you can "check out"... but you can't do that for the Kindle. Why, oh why, had I not seen this before I made my choice? Just about every other device can check out books. Not the Kindle. Why? Oh, you know the answer. They're Amazon! They want you to buy the damn book.

*sigh*

The wonders of childhood

This is the conversation my sister, Mandie, had with Gretchen (5 years old) and Becca (4 years old). They, incidently, are sisters.

Gretchen: Guess what.
Mandie: What?
Gretchen: I can read now.
Becca: (high voice full of wonder) You can?
Gretchen: Yep.
Becca: Who taught you?
Gretchen: My teacher.
Becca: That's cool.
Gretchen: Yeah.

I guess this whole reading thing that was such a revelation to Becca must have happened in that six hours the two of them were apart yesterday. *grins*

Something to look forward to

Okay, so heard back from the SyFyBigBang mod who said that I could submit what I had so I spent an anxious ten minutes coming up with a summary for a story that is only 3k into a 15k word count but I think I came up with one that I am happy with, considering where the story is going so far and where I think I can take it.

I'm a little stressed at the thought (because I'm giving myself four days to write the whole thing so that I can get it to the betas and then make sure the rewrites get done. It's due at the end of the month so I have time but that's where I've always gotten into trouble. No more putting this off!

I'm also a little excited because someone already picked it to make something for!!!!! Oh, please let this be worthy of art. Please, please, please.

That being said... anyone else want to beta a Ronon/Elizabeth (Rated R with no real warnings other than violence and I'm hoping to hurt a few characters here and there) story? It's set Season 2/3. Let me know. I could use as many eyes as would like to help out.

Also, I love this icon. I found it while lurking on InsaneJournal one night and I don't know the real person to credit but it's so lovely that I'm going to hope that whoever made it doesn't mind that I'm using it. I do love it when Jason Momoa laughs.
