Today I got to get off work three hours early because I have to work tomorrow for 5 hours. It's a trade off. I was willing to take it because tomorrow evening I have an uncle and aunt coming into town for the evening and my mom will be scurrying around the house tomorrow, in a cleaning frenzy. There will be no opportunity for me to hide in my room so why not work! I can get on and veg all afternoon now and just be done with it.
That being said, I really should open up at least one writing window but I find that I just want to take a nap... which will only lead to me staying up too last tonight and then waking up late tomorrow. I'm already into the "night owl with a day job and hating it" phenomenon because I keep refusing to go to sleep at what some people consider NORMAL. Granted, I'm lucky in that the earliest my day can start is 9am but there is that 30 minute commute now. A 30 minute commute that is 45 minutes at the moment because of summer road construction. Incidentally, I think they're using magic to get it done because no one has seen anyone actually working. I don't think Voldemort was vanquished so much as moved to the States and set up a scheme to make lots of money and make lots of people incredibly angry by slowing down their driving time.
In other news, I've researched the heck out of malaria and think that the rest of the "Bruce gets malaria and everyone is nice to him" story should come along nicely. I'm sure that I'll use 0.001% of what I've gleaned from the books at work but it sure was fun.
Me: Okay, what's Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura exactly?
Randye (the pharmacist who has to answer all the questions or she doesn't get to see the stories): I think using Glossitis is going to be your best bet. And it's easier to spell.
Me: True. But the more fun to say. Can't imagine having it, though.
Friendly customer: Having what?
Me: Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.
Friendly customer: Who has (tries to say the phrase).. that?
Me: With any luck, Bruce Banner. You know, the Hulk.
Friendly customer: You do have the most interesting customers, don't you.
Any day you can use the word "purpura" is a good day.
