Just the other day, I stood up at work (back to the land of gray cubicle walls for me!) and announced, "I miss LiveJournal."

Since a good majority of people I work with are either millennials (who've never heard of LiveJournal and barely know that we once needed a place for journaling and oh, so much more) or oldsters like me (who went the family route and spend a good majority of the 2000s doing funny things like getting married and having kids), everyone looked at my blankly and I promptly sat down again, wishing I had a place to journal all about the events that had just transpired.

Because the world needs to know that I stood up and announced that I'm old. And weird. Can't forget the weird.

I was reminded of Dreamwidth a few days after this incident. Low and behold, I've looked in on my journal enough to keep it safe and sound and ready for me to come back. I've been in the world of yarn, sinking all my creativity into taking the crochet world by storm. Well, jumping into a puddle now and then to let those around me in the crochet world that I was there and doing things my way!

Right now, I'm working on a lot of unique fandom things like some new fandom (mostly Marvel and Harry Potter) inspired bags (that I still don't have good pictures of) and other wearables.

I've also fallen down the rabbit hole of Critical Role and the whole D&D experience that has filled the void of writing and also gave me a sense of where I belonged when I first moved to this new city, nearly three years ago.

Time has certainly flown. I'm definitely a different person. The online journaling experience is definitely a different creature than when I left it. I'm excited to see what happens next!

Title: Rip Apart the World
Fandom: Avengers
Characters: Clint/Natasha, Bruce, Darcy
Word Count: 4119
Rating: Teen and Up
Author's Note: This little bit of hurt/comfort is something I started in February for the promptathon. For [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81’s prompt: She would rip the world apart for him. And for [livejournal.com profile] inkvoices, who mentioned Florence in her comments. The first part, especially, owes a lot to Ceremonials. But then it got stuck in EDIT land (thanks to all the work that my beta, [livejournal.com profile] hufflepuffsneak, put into kicking this into shape!) where I was too lazy to get it out. Along comes another promptathon and I realize that I need to quit being lazy and get this thing out there! So this is also for [livejournal.com profile] sgteam14283’s prompt: Okay? Okay. (from The Fault in Our Stars by the wonderful John Green).

Summary: There are some things that are meant to stay private and unmentioned. There are other things that come out in a tense situation and change everything. Thankfully, Clint's there to help pick up pieces that this current op chips off Natasha, regardless of what comes out of her mouth.

Title: Just Keep Running
Prompt: Time & Betrayal at [livejournal.com profile] writerverse
Word Count: 442
Rating: PG
Original/Fandom: Fandom - Fraction!verse
Pairings (if any): Clint/Kate
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con etc): some mild language
Summary: Kate explodes at Clint. There must be something at the heart of this emotion but she's not ready to face it yet.

Kate glanced at her watch. )
lar_laughs: (Marvel - Kate (comics))
Title: Somewhere, There Are Birds Singing
Fandom: Fraction's Hawkeye comic 'verse (but with a touch of movie!verse for sweetness)
Characters: primarily Clint and Kate but there's a visit from Tony and Steve
[livejournal.com profile] writerverse Table of DOOM Prompt: 05. sweets
Prompt: I have two! roadtrip from [livejournal.com profile] redbrunja at the Avengers Rare Pair but it turned into a buddy-fic instead of a couple (although it can be assumed that they are well on their way to a relationship but it really is gen) & this stunning bit of conversation from [livejournal.com profile] sweetwatersong:
"You know, when this day started off, I didn't think I'd end up breaking the law and nearly running the sheriff off of the road."
"He deserved it."
"He's sixty-five!"

Word Count: (minus prompt words) 1424
Summary: Clint and Kate go for a road trip. Things happen. Oh, yes, they do.

Somewhere, there are birds singing. )

I made fic tonight out of despair. I didn't write anything when Colorado burned last year but I'm so tired of crying that I decided I needed to write something. My inner Darcy cried out for justice because she hung out in New Mexico so might very well have known what it was like to live through something like this.

Title: Burning
Characters: Darcy/Steve
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Steve comes home to find Darcy watching the news... )

***

Some images that Darcy might have seen on the news

Title: Right On The Edge (Part 2)
Prompt: Princess of China lyrics:
Once upon a time we're burning bright
That all we ever seemed to do is fight
Once upon a time on the same side
In the same game, now why'd you have to go
Have to go and throw it all in my flame

Word Count: 852
Rating: PG
Original/Fandom: Hawkeye comic!verse
Pairings (if any): none
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con/Underage): mild swearing
Summary: Clint wants an explanation for Bobbi's invitation

Bobbi’s expecting the visit )
lar_laughs: (Happy (Lindsay Stirling))
I'm trying to finish up the Table Of Doom for writerverse so I'm going to see how much of this story I can get out with the remaining prompts. I finally read Hawkeye My Life As A Weapon and I have so many Kate Feels!

I've also decided that I don't much like the few icons I've seen of Kate from the comics. Well, I like them but I'm not in love with them. You know? I've decided that I'm not much of an "comic as icon" person and need to have a real person in the picture. This means that I need to find a PB that I like as the character. Hmmm...

Also, I should state right here that I have no idea where everything else in Clint's backstory fits in with this particular comic universe. My comic knowledge is spotty, at best, but I'm taking the bits I like best (like Bobbi Morse) and running with it.

Title: Right On The Edge (Part 1)
Prompt: Place: The River's Edge and Tense: Present
Word Count: 1052
Rating: PG
Fandom: Hawkeye Comic!verse
Pairings (if any): none
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con/Underage): none
Summary: Bobbi asks Kate out for tea but this does nothing to sooth over any frayed nerves.

It all starts because Bobbi invites her out for tea )
lar_laughs: (Marvel - BW death comes swiftly)
I've completed my first of three stories for [community profile] queer_fest! Hooray!

Title: Initiation Into This Life (or: 5 times Clint told the truth and one time she didn't)
Fandom: Marvel movie!verse
Pairing/Characters: main: Clint Barton (female), Natasha Romanoff - secondary: Nick Fury, Phil Coulson
Rating: Teen and Up
Word Count: 5202
Prompt: Everyone else thinks Clint is a guy. Clint doesn’t really bother correcting them. for [community profile] queer_fest
Warnings: hints at Clint’s less-than-happy beginnings

Author's Note: I saw this prompt and wanted to write it. I started writing and found myself in a darkness, wondering that I'd ever considered it. I asked [profile] hufflepuffsneak what she thought of the story so far and she liked it. Without the quiet encouragement, I would never have finished this.

Summary: Clint Barton has the Black Widow in the cross-hairs of her bow but stays her impulse as she realizes that this woman has seen things, in this first meeting, that not even the people who know her best have ever realized. I was told you were one thing, yet I see you are completely another.

Okay, guys, I need some input!

The first two pieces of jewelry have been finished! I'd like to know 1) if you like it, 2) if you'd buy something like this and 3) if you look at it and think, "I like that but...". Are we headed in the right direction?

Both of these pieces are a sort of Inspired By jewelry. Not something that the characters themselves would wear but something that should make the wearer feel as if they're wearing something that has to do with their favorite character. But, at the same time, it shouldn't make them feel like a geek for wearing it.

I feel like I should point that these pictures are from my camera and haven't been professionally set up, at all. When they are put on to Beth's Etsy site, she will take professional pictures (one of her other talents) so they will look much better than these!

Hawkeye )

Black Widow )

Beth is working on a Thor's Hammer necklace and a Batman bracelet. I've been tasked with coming up with a star for the Captain America bracelet and the appropriate beads for the Hulk bracelet. If I can figure out how to make the DNA strand/toxin symbol in my mind for Hulk, I think I can make it into a necklace, too.

I'm trying to come up with something for Darcy (something to do with a taser, I think) and Jane (stars? or the idea of a starry sky?). I've been staring at the SHIELD symbol but that may be a little harder to make than I thought it would be when I first thought of it. I'm also trying to make the Widow's Bite into something decorative.

The object of this challenge was to get a random word from the dictionary. When I saw my word, I realized I had the beginning of a story that would work well for the word. The first couple of hundred words of this had been sitting on my computer for awhile and I decided I needed to get it out and finish it.

Title: First Kiss
Fandom: Avengers MCU
Your Word: Contrite
Word Count: 2546
Rating: Teen
Pairings: Darcy/Steve
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con/etc): slight spoilers for Iron Man 3
Summary: Darcy likes Steve. Steve seems to like Darcy. So why is it so hard to get a kiss?

...a dating manual on how to go about dating an Avenger would have been nice... )
lar_laughs: (Marvel - a whisper worth a smile)
There was/is an impromptu three-sentence fic event going on at [livejournal.com profile] be_compromised and that's what I wrote yesterday. It didn't dawn on me that I hadn't posted it here until I was already in bed and it was too late to even think about getting up and posting.

Unless otherwise posted, all characters are Clint and Natasha (often as Clint/Natasha).

Title: Strapped
Prompt: weapons and their meaning to them
Story: There was always a knife strapped to his leg but she knew that it wasn't standard issue. After watching him draw and throw it, she knew it had different origins and felt compelled to ask him about it.

The tips of his ears grew red as he replied, "I've never told you what I did when I was a kid, have I?"

Title: Never a Good Idea to Stare
Prompt: Don't taunt the dinosaurs.
Story: She figured hanging from her ankle in the tallest tree in the area (or so it seemed from this abnormal vantage point) was what she deserved for going against order. When Clint finally got around to getting her down, she struggled valiantly not to hang her head at his pointed look.

"Your typical brontosaurus doesn't like to be stared at," was all he said.

Title: Next in the Lecture Series
Prompt: March Madness
Story: Clint tried to suppress his grin as Natasha settled next to Tony on the couch and said (in her best I'm ever so interested voice), "So explain this madness to me again."

For the sixth time, Tony began his History of Basketball in the Civilized World speech as she watched with what looked like interest. This was going to be fun to watch when the games started.

Title: Tea Party
Prompt: imaginary friend
Story: "You can't sit there," the diminutive Natasha informed Clint as he joined her at the kitchen table. Thirty-six hours in and she was still a six-year old but Bruce swore that he was close to a solution to Dr. Doom's little trick.

As he changed seats, she informed him, "That's where Coulson is sitting."

Title: Injury (warning: character injury)
Prompt: open your eyes
Story: "Tasha, I'm gonna need you to open your eyes for me because we need to get out of here but I can't even begin to think about it until I know you're conscious and I'm doubtful about it at the moment."

The rambling panic in Clint's voice was every bit as comforting as his death grip on her shoulders. As much as she knew she should do as he requested and open her eyes, she wanted to stay in this between existence where all that mattered was that he was nearby.

Title Pre-History
Prompt: a short history of nearly everything
Story: "They're assassins. What more do you need to know?"

Later, Maria wished she'd pushed a little harder for a more in-depth history on Clint and Natasha as she found herself often in the dark about what they were capable of and what she should be expecting of them.

Title: A Time for Us
Prompt: Budapest (it had to be done)
Story: Natasha catalogues their adventures together by the scars on Clint's body. She traces over a ridge of skin, silvered with time, and waits for him to shiver in remembrance.

"Budapest," he growls in return as she starts to melt.
lar_laughs: (Marvel - Steve in shadow)
Title: Visitation
Fandom: MCU
Characters: Steve/Darcy
Prompt: from [livejournal.com profile] allisnow - Steve, smile for the cameras

Do you have to do that? )
lar_laughs: (Marvel - Natasha blonde)
Title: Over Coffee
Fandom: Avengers/MCU
Characters: Natasha, Bobbi
Prompt: a long time ago, [livejournal.com profile] ashen_key asked for MCU!Bobbi Morse and Natasha being AWESOME together, with no jealousy at all. And of course I broke my own rule and this is a few more than ten sentences.

...friends are made over time... )
lar_laughs: (Marvel - Natasha blonde)
It dawns on me that I haven't ever posted my lone Valentine's Promptathon story. I have TWO more most of the way done but it's that last little bit that is KILLING ME SLOWLY! The muse fled for warmer weather or better shoe sales or something. I don't know. All I know is that I haven't been able to write anything coherent in about two weeks. Even though there's more sun in these parts of late, I've upped my Vitamin D and need to get myself on a better sleep schedule. Anything to get past this funk!

Title: Whatever It Takes
Fandom: Avengers movie!verse
Characters: Clint/Natasha
Rating: PG-13 (Teen and Up)
Warnings: some language, hospital situations
Author's Note: This is set pre-movie and is another of my attempts to explain Love is for Children. Many hugs to [livejournal.com profile] hufflepuffsneak for the beta!
Prompt: from the prompt given by [livejournal.com profile] icecream_junkie
Proof - by Emily Dickinson
That I did always love,
I bring thee proof:
That till I loved
I did not love enough.

That I shall love alway,
I offer thee
That love is life,
And life hath immortality.

This, dost thou doubt, sweet?
Then have I
Nothing to show
But Cavalry.

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] be_compromised peeps!

I've started compiling the prompts in this doc. It's not pretty but it has the prompts listed by PAGE which is always huge for me. I didn't list the exact link but I figured page would get me there faster than not having a page at all.

Feel free to use and pass on, as you would like! I needed something that was sort of mindless today while I mulled over a completely different fandom story and decided this would be the mindless thing I did!

Also, I leave you all this video. [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81 was having a Hey Remember This Song post today that got me all sentimental for the songs that really touched me and this song probably has the highest listen count over my formative years.

Ah, good times. Enjoy!

Title: Silence is Golden
Prompt: just before the battle and chess match at [community profile] writerverse
Word Count: 586
Rating: Mature
Original/Fandom: Fandom (Avenger!movie verse)
Pairings (if any) (implied) Clint/Natasha, Steve/Darcy
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con etc): none
Summary: Tony always forgets the first rule of friendship with Master Assassins: Don't ask a straight-forward question and expect a straight-forward answer. Also, Darcy needs more practice verbally sparring with Tony.

Just before the battle, there were things that needed to be said. )
lar_laughs: (Marvel - Damn You - Coulson)
This is only the first part of the story.

Title: Signed in Blood
Fandom: Avengers (MCU)
Characters: Phil Coulson, Darcy Lewis
Prompt: Once in Love with Amy at [livejournal.com profile] writerverse
Word Count: 445
Rating: PG
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con etc): none
Summary: Darcy and Phil wake up married. This is the first morning.

...if there's anyone here who objects... )
lar_laughs: (Marvel - Clint/Natasha apart)
For [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81, on the occasion of her birthday. Incidently, this was the Super Secret Project of D00m.

Title: Fate's Idea of a Joke
Fandom: Avengers/Castle mash up
Characters: Clint/Natasha
Word Count: 2330
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: mentioned death of parents
Summary: Detective Clint Barton was content to let the arrival of superheroes in New York slide on by. It's too much for him to handle, especially seeing as it brings up memories of the death of his parents. Along comes Natasha Romanov, dragging him in to places he's not sure he wants to go so she can get her story. Sometimes fate really is funny.

And now you're asking yourself, "But what did you get from YOUR secret Santa?"

Well, let me tell you! I got the Ballet Dancer/Bodyguard fic from [livejournal.com profile] hiddencait I've been wanting since, well, since I found out that Natasha had dance in her background! Color me ECSTATIC!

Title: Pas De Deux
Author: [livejournal.com profile] hiddencait
Rating: T
Warnings: Past/off-screen noncon and forced prostitution, language, some violence
Pairings: Clint/Natasha, Thor/Jane
Summary/Prompt Used: It wasn’t that Clint didn’t like her, but damned if the dancer wasn’t way too much of a diva for his taste. And really, he didn’t have to like her. He just had to keep her alive.
Authors Notes: A huge thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fringedweller for a super-last minute beta. Also giving credit where credit is due – Tasha’s backstory was inspired by Mercedes Lackey’s Reserved for the Cat, and the fight scene in the hallway was totally out of love for all of River Tam’s fight scenes in Serenity. Browncoats forever yall!

And here is the second story. This one was fun to research because I got to look up Google Maps and try to figure out fun things along the way. If you ever want to go on a cross-country trip across the States, just let me know and I'll map out a fun trip for you! *grins*

Title: Meet Me in the Aftermath
A Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] allisnow
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 5345
Warnings: angst, reference to canonical death
Pairings: Clint/Natasha
Summary/Prompt Used: This is the story of the road trip Natasha and Clint took across the country after helping save the world from being overrun with ugly creatures from space. It’s also the story of how Clint came to terms with the fact that he was responsible for the death of a friend. It is, thankfully, not a story of how Tony came to own the Bellagio. We shall save that for another adventure.
Authors Notes: So many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] hufflepuffsneak for looking over this multiple times while I had countless meltdowns and holding my hand until I wasn’t quite so wibbly-wobbly. A huge thanks to Aster for helping get this idea off the ground and then sweeping in to fix my tense errors (of which there were legion) when it was done. If you are familiar with FRIENDS, you will notice a few references from “The One With Joey’s Big Break” and “The One in Vegas”. The title is taken from the Lifehouse song “Aftermath”.

This is also dedicated to Beth - who hasn't stopped gushing about this since I sent it to her.
