Just when I dared to dream
Jun. 13th, 2009 11:44 amDon't ever say that Twitter didn't produce things of use. @Selestial has some writerly things to say on her blog that I found interesting. Thought I would share them with you.
And now to the real reason I opened this blog up today.
My family is going to kill me. Slowly. With smiles and laughter and garbage bags full of things that Doodle doesn't want anymore or need to be moved to Noodle's new house.
I haven't had a flipping weekend to myself in too long to count. I don't know why I thought I could get some alone time this weekend with Doodle home and starting to set up "Bridal Central" (her words, not mine) in her old bedroom. I'm in my room with the music up yet they keep yelling at me from that room. "Do you want these books?" If I wanted those books, why would they be in that closet and not in mine? "Do you want to help?" If I wanted to help, I would be in there and not in here where I can barely hear you. "Would you like Teddy Ruxpin?" Why would I want Teddy Ruxpin when his eyes aren't even THERE anymore. He was a scary toy when we were little (and he wasn't mine, in the first place) and he's still a freaky little piece of junk. "Have you seen..." No. I haven't. Once again, I haven't seen anything and I don't want anything and I don't want to help and please quit giving me grief when I don't seem excited about what YOU decided to do today. I'm excited about what I decided to do today. No one gave me the itinerary.
Seeing as the BRIDAL SHOWER TO END ALL BRIDAL SHOWERS is tomorrow, I did clean the front room and I will probably go down at some point and clean the dining room up a little. See? Good sister/bridesmaid!
Have you looked up bridal shower games online lately? There isn't ANYTHING of interest. Most of them are the same game with a different title. I did find a great site that wants you to buy everything but it gave me some good ideas and I just modified them for my own use from what I could see on the screen. Boo-YAH! So if you need some ideas, let me know. I've got like five games I like. We'll probably play three. I have 7 gifts. Hmmm...
It's been raining here so much we're under a flood watch. This doesn't worry me so much but if Silver Creek floods it's going to be impossible for me to get to work. Boo... hoo... *grins* I doubt we get THAT much water but it could happen. The skies are gray today but that isn't anything new.
Spencer and the cat both got baths today and I still haven't cleaned up from that experience. The cat is getting old and she doesn't fight me nearly as much these days so I don't get as wet. I'd leave her in peace but she's an outdoor cat and STINKS in the summer because of all the stuff she gets into. I don't even want to know!
A book I enjoyed lately:
The Becoming by Jeanne C. Stein. Yet another vampire book but it was really interesting and some new twists to an old story. I do wish there were more werewolf books that I could find out there. I'm tired of vampires. They were never my favorite, anyway.
A book I'm not really enjoying but I haven't given it a lot of time:
Red-Headed Stepchild by Jaye Wells. I'm still not halfway through with it but it's one of those vampire/mage cross things and I like my paranormals to be of one breed at a time because being a mix just seems like a too-oft used cliche these days. It makes them special, yada yada yada.
Starting to read the Kathy Reichs Bones series. Finished the first one. It was okay... definitely not like the Bones on the TV series but a good book characters, nonetheless. I'm looking forward to number 2.
Must go rescue some books from the other room. Grrr...
