Slide and release the power switch to wake
Feb. 5th, 2011 01:57 amIt is the middle of the night and I'm still online because I only just really got online for the evening. Drove to Mom & Dad's tonight after work, played Qwirkle and then taught the little kids how to play Set. Dani Jay can almost keep up with me if I find a Set and then give her 30 seconds to see if she can find the one I'm seeing. After that, it's mine. She's pretty quick for a 7 year old. Maybe I'll have someone besides Mom and Lindsay to play with! Man, I love that game so much!
Mandie and I had about a two hour talk right before I got online. I love my sister so much! She's an pediatric oncology nurse who doesn't get out enough to have a life so sometimes she absorbs the shock and pain of her job too much. The wonderful thing about having similar jobs is that she can use her work speak and I can understand it and she can vent. Mostly about other nurses or the pharmacy (which gives all pharmacies everywhere a bad name) and sometimes parents. There is a little girl (4 years old) that came in last night after riding in a dryer. Yep, a dryer. She's got a broken wrist and broken ribs not to mention the BURNS on the poor girl's body. This is the kind of stupidity my sister puts up with on an average day (well, night really, since she works graveyards). Not enough oncology to go around so she has to deal with just the pediatric side. Like she always says, "At least you know the parents didn't cause the cancer." True dat!
She is entertaining the idea of me coming to stay with her if I decide to move. Two things... I can't bring my dog (our schedules are just too different and I would hate to think of Spencer ruining her sleep for any reason) and I would have to clean. One thing you should know about my sister... she is as big a nester as I am but she doesn't feel the need to clean up after herself. At least I have piles! I don't think I would mind too much as I normally clean when I go to visit her any way and it would get cleaner as we went along. Both of us have had horrible roommate situations. I'm just really leery of them. But I've got to get out of this valley!
I realized tonight that I'm doing quite well on my writing goals. I'd really like to have most every piece of fandom done by the end of this next week so I can start working on some original stuff! That makes me all sorts of excited! Not that I haven't enjoyed the visits from the recs I've been getting in some of the fandom boards! Always enjoy that! Love that I can see that over 40 people came to my pages in the last 24 hours! And I've gotten so many more hits on my SGA stuff over on AO3 than I have with my HP stuff. I think I've found a fandom where I can make a few more waves! That's so cool!
