I was going to try to go through my friends page tonight but I don't think I can. I'm tired and sore from working in my sister's yard (we put in a beach!) and thought I could unwind at the computer but I need to go to sleep, instead! Last night, I got caught up on sleep by getting ready for bed and then GOING at 9pm but waking at 7am and then all the yard work and sun exposture (oh, good lord, the sun exposure! I swear I put on sun screen but then washed it off when I wet down my face and neck and arms when I got hot) so I may need to go to bed soon. Granted, I don't have to get up quite that early tomorrow. The only problem is that I have words that are due NEXT WEEKEND and if I don't start sleeping well this week then I'm not going to get any of those words written so I need to knuckle down... and sleep. *grins* And also get other things accomplished but that's only possible with sleep.
Have you tried the strawberry lemonade at McDonald's? I like it. Of course, it helps if they sort of semi-stir it because they didn't on my second cup (I bought some while driving) so I got a big mouthful of strawberry goo. It wasn't good. Together, the two make a good combination! I'm all for more of that in my future!
I can't wait to see Neil Gaimon's Doctor Who episode! Tomorrow!!!
Today I was picking up stuff from a side table at my sister's house. She's quite the clutterer because she comes home from work and empties her pockets wherever she is. This usually means pens (OH THE PENS AT THIS GIRL'S HOUSE!) and that evening's charge sheet (she's a nurse and I have no idea what a charge sheet is but it goes in her pocket at work and comes out when she gets home) and then whatever else she has around. In this pile of stuff, there were NO LESS than six sheets of folded paper with a little scene written out on it.
Now, I've known for YEARS that my sister was a closet writer. She possesses nearly as many "pretty" notebooks as I do with a new scene starting every few pages. She's at the first stage of being a writer plus she's as much of a reader as I am I was. All she needs is that push. You know the one if you've ever done any sort of writing. You need to find out that you CAN write and then you have to be pushed along. I don't know about you but what really taught me how to write (and also to push the editor back out of the way) is RPGing. The kind where two or three writers go back and forth and a scene emerges.
I've already been contemplating doing something like this with one of my little girls, maybe both of the Dani's, if they want to. They're both 9 and have an imagination that most grown ups would kill for but will never be able to achieve again. Both of them enjoy writing (although Dani Marie has done a lot of extra credit writing assignments this year so I know she has a good grasp of plot) and a pretty good readers. I was thinking of passing a notebook back and forth with them. We'll see if they want to.
But Mandie... now I have something different planned out for her. I told her we were going to write something together for Camp NaNo but I think I want to see if she'll start earlier or she might back out. I'm excited to see what she'll come up with.
