I've been listening to Parachute (specifically, this song) and it's made me think about Ronon's part of this story. I think I'm going to write his stuff for another of the challenges coming up because I want to figure out how to fit this song into the story! *grins* And then Aster asked about Rodney so I'll have to see what I can do for him. I think there does need to be more Rodney but he was having too much fun with all the new equipment to come out and play much.

Also, randomly, Spotify told me I might like Quietdrive and THEY WERE RIGHT! If you like SafetySuit, you might like them, too. Or, if you like Quietdrive, you might like SafetySuit. Maybe there's a whole group of bands that have smooshed together words that are just equally awesome!

Title: On the Right Note (4/5)
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis AU
Characters: John, Ronon, Elizabeth (with a decided lack of Teyla)
Word Count: 2369
Prompt: marvelous for the [livejournal.com profile] stargateland Multimedia Bingo challenge
Disclaimer: I don't own. I only play around with it from time to time.
Author's Note: Much love to my beta, Aster, who is not responsible for anything in this story that doesn't work and only for the things that do.
Summary: John Sheppard's a small town boy wanting to make it big in the music industry. While he loses the family he was born into because of this decision, he gains a whole new one along the way.

THIS IS AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! But that doesn't mean you shouldn't read it because it's awesome. )

This storyline is now complete with this part of the story. I need to connect the stories but will probably post this to AO3 so will just post the link to that instead of the individual parts. Like I said in the previous post, I reserve the right to play in this 'verse a bit more. It was too fun not to return to.

Tonight I went to the high school gym to watch our girl's team whoop up on the competition in the District championships. And to tell you how tired I am, I don't seem to want to go back to that sentence and capitalize what needs to be capitalized. I also didn't know how to spell championships and had to go to Google to make sure that the autocorrect wasn't lying to me.

It was a good game but it got VERY DIRTY when the other team realized they weren't going to score and so attempted to make sure that our girls couldn't either. But we prevailed! Even though they acted like they were playing soccer and did the whole "falling down on the court and pretending they were hurt". Once it almost backfired and one of our girls tripped over one of them and it could have been bad if someone hadn't caught her. Drama Girls! Stay on your feet!

It's a pretty cool team right now. This is their second District win in a row. One of the girls signed with a good university to play on their basketball team. You see, this is a small town and I don't think many of our players ever see the inside of a college gym. Not a big university, at least. The fact that they SIGNED her was a huge, HUGE deal. Besides, it's just fun to watch her play with her teammates. They really work well together out on the court.

I've had fun watching high school basketball again. It's been years since I've been to a game because I have this thing with crowds. Mostly, walking in front of them. Which is weird because I could step in the middle of the court and TALK to them. I just don't want to walk in front of them. And it's not too bad if I know where I'm going to sit. Corky was waiting for me so it was just a matter of getting to the seat they had saved for me. I have the weirdest little weirded-out things.

Something else I decided this week. I used to say that I didn't like high schoolers. Didn't when I was and don't now. But I don't think I mind high schoolers. It's little kids I have trouble with. Especially precocious ones who don't have that filter yet. You know the ones. They say the first thing that comes into their head. You see, I'm a girl with short, short hair and obvious boobs. So I overhear a lot of half-whispered comments to the tune of "Is that a boy or a girl?" Because when are we going to get over the need to teach little kids that girls need to have long hair? What a horrible, horrible stereotype! It's almost easier when my hair is GONE because then they're too scared of me to talk out loud! Yeah, take that little kid! Run away from my bald head!

Bah. Children.

And this is why I don't have any of my own. *grins* They're so much easier to handle when I can give them back when I get tired.

Oh, and I did something silly.

I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] hprarefest because I made a mistake of reading through the prompts. It's not due until June. And I have to write at least one Harry Potter story a year. I don't know why. It's a compulsion but this way I'll get it over the first part of the year.

ALSO...

Forever and Always by Parachute

The lyrics: )

This song is written how a good fic is supposed to be written. Think about it... it starts IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ACTION. The story is set up and then she thinks back and then the action goes forward. Then, of course, you wipe the tears from your eyes.

Then, of course, I think "Oh, I want to write a fic to this" but I don't think I can. I don't have that much self-control to keep myself from falling into a deep pit after writing that sort of fic. But it would be a good idea for one. *grins* So sad!
