My Day of Rest was anything but
Jul. 30th, 2012 01:04 amI finished my Grimms Brother essay! Hooray! I rather liked it (which means it'll get scathing reviews, I'm sure) but I'm content with it seeing as it's the first week and I don't really know what is expected of me just yet. Examples are fine but I want to see what I'm up against from my classmates! I also started with the Khan Academy, doing simple math (to make me feel VERY SUPERIOR because I remember how to add and use a number line) and watching really cool videos about doodling math. At a later date, I will link those but I want to watch through them and find the best of the best because THEY ARE AWESOME! My goal is to do half an hour a day (yeah, right, Lar! Dream big, why don't you!) there plus see if I can't pick up a few more little classes here and there. There is definitely a lot going at the Khan Academy and you get little fun badges for accomplishments. Color me excited!
Today, I used a big chunk of my "me" time playing a game with a 13 year old boy. This is probably the most time I've spent with T in his entire lifetime. The kid doesn't "get" me and so doesn't like to hang out with me or near me or anywhere where he might run into me. His mom and I came to the conclusion that he's too much like me and it scares him because he doesn't know how to handle it. Personally, it scares me to know that I'm like him because the kid is seriously weird! I love him but he's weird! So, recently, I've decided to foster the weird. He loves war (as so many kids of that age and temperament do) so I got Memoir '44 to play with him. It's from the same people who came out with Ticket to Ride (another game that has sapped numerous hours from my life in the last month or so) and is much more fun than I thought it would be. We played 4 games (switching off halfway so we were the Allies for 2 games and the Axis for 2 games) and are tied, 2-2.
Incidentally, playing the Omaha Beach scenario as the Allied forces is enough to make this geeky girl cry. I will conquer, though, and will make him play that one with me again. I just have to figure out how to get past the Artillery!
Also starting this week is our church's VBS. It's sort of the highlight of our summer here in this household, seeing as Mom is the person in charge of it and we girls get a majority of the assignments. The house is overflowing with costumes and half-done crafts and information books. All I care is that I don't have to lead songs this year and I get to wear fringe!
Have several Clint/Natasha stories in the works. They are eating my brain! This is the first time I've ever been in a fandom from the very beginning and now I understand how people can get pigeonholed! I don't want to stop writing them. While I do have other ideas in the same movie!verse, I have to get this pairing more out of the way before I get to those stories... says the girl with the 15 story To-Start list after she gets her Half-Finished list done. Lettie has more art out and it's eating my brain just as much as the prompts at the promptathon (which are growing and I can't get them archived fast enough!)
I ate an energy bar about 30 minutes ago and I think my nut allergy is getting worse. *puts the bars far, far away* I'm going to have to see about restocking the Benadryl and Epi-pens. I don't like the way that my throat feels. Hmmm... not good. Not good at all.
