lar_laughs: (Danbo - waiting for coffee)
I wanted to share some music this morning.

From the wiki: E.S. Posthumus was an independent music group that produced film trailer style music. Their style is a form of classical that intertwines popular style drum rhythms with orchestral and electronic sounds. Their music is inspired by the Pythagorean philosophy which states that "music is the harmonization of opposites; the conciliation of warring elements". The E.S. is an acronym for "Experimental Sounds" while Posthumus is a Dog Latin word that is meant to represent "all things past".

Arise is perhaps one of my favorite pieces of music right now. I love nothing more than to plug this into my car stereo as I'm driving to work and turn up the volume! There is so much, dare I say it, hope in this song. Plus... sweeping orchestration gets me every time!

I like the smoothness of this song.

Ah, their beautiful rendition of Moonlight Sonata! I love it!

I will start with the sad things.

Sad Thing 1: it appears that I should not eat nuts any more than I have to. In fact, I'm thinking of calling up the doc and seeing if they'll renew my epi pen script. Blerg! It was a handfull of nuts! That was all! My throat feels all not good!

Sad Thing 2: My poor nephews are a pile of bumps and bruises and bandaids! It's a sad, sad sight. Num discovered that bandaids feel most excellent along gums that are starting to produce teeth once again. And Nic discovered that those flying yellow and black things AREN'T nice and WILL bite you if they land on you. Twice.

Sad Thing 3: Tif and the boys are going home tomorrow. It's been three weeks of getting to see them every day and getting my fill of rocking Num to sleep. I know Mom and Dad are going to feel the emptiness of the house. Guess I should try to be louder tomorrow. Maybe bang on the fridge when I'm filling my glass with tea.

And now the happy things.

Happy Thing 1: I'm caught up with Camp NaNo! I didn't write the first two days and was sort of despairing but I caught right up this weekend with a 3k day and then a 4k day! If it wasn't this absurd need for sleep my body has, I could go for another few hours with the momentum I've got going!

Happy Thing 2: I'm really liking Dracula. I don't know if you've ever read it or not but I would advice you all to read it. I'm only 24% of the way through (my, I love how my Kindle tells me my progress!) but I'm really enjoying it. I sort of know the idea of where this is going but I'm not sure how much of it is modern stuff that has been added to my head cannon and how much is supposed to be there so I'm still pretty much unspoiled!

Happy Thing 3: Have I ever told you about my unhealthy obsession with Felicia Day? Well, I has one! Not stalkerish or anything. I don't know where she lives and I wouldn't dream of going through her garbage. But I'm a fan. Let's leave it at that. But I commented on one of her GoodReads reccs (yeah, we've been friends there for a couple of years now) tonight and she (gasp) responded back. It's like we're BEST! FRIENDS!

Happy Thing 4: I actually got to see some of the Olympics today! After church and before lunch, I sat on the couch and watched the US women's volleyball team take on Turkey. The bit that I saw was really good! I couldn't afford to do much more than that (see Happy Thing 1) but it was vastly entertaining.

Happy Thing 5: My At-A-Glance calendar is updated! Whoo-hoo!
