I got a calendar to keep all my "assignments" (both for online classes and writing assignments) in order. In one of my new pens (because I may not be in school nor do I have children, in need of school supplies or otherwise, but I need new school supplies every August!), I wrote out the events of time as I knew them. Then I proceeded to leave the book on my desk and piled so much stuff on it that I didn't even remember it was there until yesterday.

This did remind me that I"m behind on watching the course videos so I'm making my way through the Dracula videos. I haven't made it through the book... Kindle tells me I'm a little over halfway because this book is as much a monster as the main guy himself.

And then I read out of order so I've already finished Island of Dr. Moreau instead of reading Frankenstein or the Poe/Hawthorne stuff. Oops! This is what I get for not bringing my calendar with me all the time.

I'm signed up for a Gamification course (Gamification is the application of digital game design techniques to non-game problems, such as business and social impact challenges. Video games are the dominant entertainment form of our time because they are powerful tools for motivating behavior. Effective games leverage both psychology and technology, in ways that can be applied outside the immersive environments of games themselves. Gamification as a business practice has exploded over the past two years. Organizations are applying it in areas such as marketing, human resources, productivity enhancement, sustainability, training, health and wellness, innovation, and customer engagement. Game thinking means more than just dropping in badges and leaderboards; it requires a thoughtful understanding of motivation and design techniques. This course examines the mechanisms of gamification and provides an understanding of its effective use.) which looks to be fun. And I think I can use it in my search for a new job that does not make me want to cry whenever I have to help rude and mean people (of which I had a plethora today and it's made me want to curl into a ball and eat chocolate).

I'm also going to do the History course. I'm going to tell you a secret about me: I love history. All of it! It intrigues me how things fits together and why things happen the way they do. I love alternate history books and actual history books and even dry textbooks. Last summer, I lugged a 1200 page (hardbound!) book around to read at work. True facts! I just don't know if I want to spend $85 on the history textbook that you "can" read but don't have to while taking the course. I'd love it but don't have the money right now. Spent it all on that Avengers box set. :D

Right now I'm reading The Map of Time (Felix J. Palma) and loving it! In fact, I used it as an excuse to go to bed early last night. Did I actually sleep early? No. But I was in bed! It also kept me from getting back from work early but that's pretty par for the course these days.

Will (the younger of my two nephews) has learned his first sign. If I could figure out how I got the video to play here last time, I would totally put it up because I swear, even though you don't know him, you will DIE from the cuteness. I swear to you on my stack of new comics that I haven't read through yet! It's "DONE" and he does it better Nic but then Nic did it well at first and then go lazy. I'm going through withdrawal from my Will!

Okay, must be productive since I"m not tired or headachey (the smoke is still here and making everyone cranky) or in any way hampered from working on a story. Any story! I've got SIX of them up in the air right now. Almost added another one yesterday but thought better of it. See? I can say no!
