I put some stories up at AO3 yesterday. About 24 hours ago. One of them has 111 hits.

I am aghast. I am agog. I am amazed... and other A words.

There are several reasons I can see for this.
1) Someone is reading the story one sentence at a time each time they come to their computer.
2) There are a small but militant group of Stargate shippers who like to see their favorite characters in various points of interest around America and they've suddenly found my work.
3) My story is still pretty high on the "first page" of the site.
4) Oh wait... one of the ships is John/Rodney.

It's probably No. 4 that is setting this story apart from the rest. I should make that pairing as secondary to all my stories. *grins* Of course, then I'd have rabid McShep fans coming for my throat. Or my pen.

I had to explain "fandom" to yet another RL person today. Sometimes it's embarrassing but mostly on their part. Not mine. I like my fandoms and the fact that I can look over and above what is force fed is in the book or TV show or movie. I like thinking while I partake of media and my favorite worlds never have to end!

Synder's of Hanover sourdough Nibblers pretzels are keeping me going tonight. I didn't really have dinner (I made it but then decided I didn't really want to eat it) so I figure this will have to do.

I think I figured out how to move some of these really big fanfics to my Kindle. I know how to convert PDF files now and I think I figured out how to save them from GoogleDocs to my computer as PDFs so... I just have to make that middle step work and it's too late at night for that.

Okay, a couple hundred more words and this story is done.

And in really, really good news... my little sis and BIL and cute little nephew decided to come visit this weekend! I can't believe how big Nic is! He's growing up! I love that I get constant videos and pictures from him... yes, him. He has his own email, don't you know! That's what you get when your dad is a techy and your mom is always online. Sometimes he even types stuff for us. *grins* Anyway, that's all I had to say. Just glad that this week is ending on a high note!

AO3 lets you download fics right to a Kindle/mobi format. If the fic you want to read are on Ao3 then it is easy. Otherwise Calibre can do it. They don't need to be PDFs first unless you want them to be I guess.

I freaked someone out when I suggested they were in the football fandom. I guess they think being a sports fan is something better, but really it is all the same. I've always thought my fandoms were just as legit as football's.

REALLY? I've never even though of asking AO3 to do that! I'll have to go look. I figured Calibre could take care of it for me if I could get it into PDF which is where that train of thought started. Hmmm... now I'm intrigued!

If a person knows NAMES of the people on their team then I would definitely say they're in football fandom. You're a sports fan if you like to watch the games but if you take it further than that, you're definitely in fandom! It's like some people watching a TV show versus knowing all the in-depth stuff!

There is a button for each fic in the upper right hand area (says "Download")where you can dl the fic as an ebook format of your choice (this case you'd want mobi though they have a pdf option...I never use pdfs so I've not used it yet). Then all you have to do is get your Kindle hooked up by the USB and drag the mobi files over. Works like a charm.

trillingstar: walkabout | Harold, head bent down, playing the guitar as he walks in the countryside. Reads: Sing Out (gen ducky moi?)
There is also this lovely ebook fanfic archive that I ravaged post-netbook purchase.

Unsure how knowing interesting trivia about my fave shows is any different from knowing "interesting" trivia about your favorite sport star/musician, there, World*. I get the o_O face a lot too. Fuck those peasants.

eta: Oops, I clearly did not read the comments. But YES, preach it.

AWESOME ARCHIVE! Thank you! I haven't written at all today because I'm reading fanfic. I've never been able to say that before because it's so inconvenient to read it on the computer.

Now I have moooooore!
