I told myself NO BIG BANGS THIS YEAR. I even dropped out of one because I knew that I didn't have the right mindset to finish it. Aster told me NO BIG BANGS THIS YEAR. The girls at work told me NO BIG BANGS THIS YEAR. My family... well, my family hasn't even figured out what fanfic is (although I think I have my sister hooked but she may be lying to me that she's reading everything I'm sending her) but they would tell me NO BIG BANGS THIS YEAR if the understood what all the angst was about.

The Avengers Reverse Big Bang opens for authors tomorrow and OH THE PRETTIES! I want them ALLLLLLLL. There's a Natasha one that is gorgeous and a Steve/Tony that just rips my heart out and TWO, count them, TWO Steampunk inspired pics. The max requirement is only 5k and that's not bad at all. I WANT!

Since Aster's on vacation... but I shouldn't! I have the high school AU that she and I will be working on when she gets back from basking on the beach (without me - the nerve!). I have all the other kink ideas that have been lighting my muse on fire. I have the rest of Two Worlds to finish.

I should not. Besides, I found all those cool pics on DeviantArt that I could create stories for. The Bogata picture (which I wouldn't mind having as a framed art print) and the other C/N one. So many pretties.

Five kK sounds more like a minibang to me :) Not that I'm enabling. I know that sometimes you just have to say 'no' and pick something without a deadline to reduce your own stress.

5K! 5K is sooo doable, and something really speaks to you, you should do it!

I know, I have ogled the post myself (and have one of my own over there, we'll see if it gets chosen) and my top 5 pics are ready for claiming :)

but the thing is that I started daydreaming about my no 1 and I am so excited but if I don't get it, if it gets claimed before I have the chance to do it, I am going to be so sad. I know better than to get my hopes up like that!! *headdesk*

My problem with reverse bangs is that I don't create on demand well. I find a picture I like and I get a story in my head and then I find out that the creator wants something different than what I saw and it makes it more of writing a story for someone else and less about writing a story for myself. I'm just weird that way. Some of the wants in this one are very specific. That is where my stress comes from, more than anything.

But 5k is very doable.

I guess it depends on how the artist you get mached with handles the fic process? I never had anyone direct me apart from doing the art, they've all been really fun to work with. One I had lots of exchanges with, and we'd trade ideas back and forth (she mostly followed my lead!) and the other just couldn't interreact for reasons and I ended up building from the image up. I guess I was lucky.

if the wants are already on the claiming post, then I agree with you it could be more tricky. In fact, I didn't put one of the choices on my list because of a situation like that, even if I loved the art.

the claiming is insane! I got my 3rd choice (DAMMIT, I KNEW I SHOULD NOT HAVE STARTED PLOTTING THE 1ST), but that's still very cool because it's a prompt I love.

When you have something like that where you've created so much backstory into the picture, have you ever posted it just for the sake of posting and had someone end up writing something for it? Just wondering because sometimes I see stuff that people have posted and it inspires me and think I should ask about creating for it but then I don't because collaborations scare me. I really should stop letting those old fears spring up when I'm surrounded by such cool people.

I've done reversebigbangs - the art part - only 3 times... and every time I did it, the image was pretty generic, so I think it left latitude to the author.

but I rarely post art to my LJ to post art, you know? I am not that confident in it. But I do get what you say, and if for some reason I would post something and an author would contact me to say "dude, that's awesome, could I write something for it?" I would be absolutely thrilled. You really should at least try to contact the person and see how it goes.

I've had people ask me if they could write a sequel to a fic of mine, or a remix of it, and I've always been flattered than they even wanted to, and it has lead to really cool collaborations! :)
