Summary: Darcy and Phil wake up married. This is the first morning.

They both stared at the piece of paper that had been in lying on the bed between them. The words were swimming on the paper but Darcy was fairly certain she would never forget what they said. Certificate of Marriage

Her name was printed carefully on the line on the left. Phil's was on the right. The signatures seemed legitimate. It bothered her that she didn't remember signing the paper or getting into this bed, fully clothed. This whole thing felt very much like an alien plot.

"Yes, sir. Right, sir." Phil had been on his phone since they'd both woken up in the foreign room, his calm voice sounding like a shout in the quiet that surrounded them. She wasn't sure who he was talking to, only that they didn't appear to be much help.

Who, in this kind of situation, would be of any help? Jane wouldn't, even if she was in the same country. Thor was back in Asgard. It didn't appear that SHIELD was going to be any any help. That left... the others.

Which meant she had no options. The last thing she wanted was to be beholden to that group of technicolor freaks. Every time they were involved, small problems got bigger. She was, truth be told, a little biased when it came to those people. They'd kept Thor from Jane and, for that, she couldn't forgive.

"Who wants to mess with you?" she asked when Phil finally clicked his phone off. "Because I'm pretty damn normal. Boring, even. I don't see what marrying me off has to do with anything."

"I'm not that different from you."

She laughed because there was nothing else she could do or say. His serious expression said it wasn't a joke but she wanted it to be. Phil was an agent of a super secret covert organization. The differences between them were too many to count.

"I was in love once. Her name was Amy. She was like you."

Darcy ducked her head. "An idiot who had a tendency to find herself in really strange situations?"

"Strange? Yes." Phil lifted her chin back up with a finger, smiling when she finally looked at him again. "But she wasn't an idiot and neither are you. This is just a setback. We'll figure out how to make this work."

"Divorce?"

He shook his head slowly, her smile suddenly falling into a frown as he pointed toward a few dark stains that she had missed. "This marriage is more than a piece of paper. This has been signed in blood."

"So?"

"We weren't married in the normal sense. We were married by magic bound in blood."
