Characters: Ron/Hermione

“You ready?” Ron knelt beside Hermione, his dull-red hair the only color she could see in the room. It felt as if her head was being held under water, her breath shallow and fast as she automatically reached out to touch him. She suddenly thought better of it, pulling her hand back.

“I suppose. I mean, I am.” She tried to force the smile onto her face but gave up. “I’m scared, Ron. We’ve already seen so much death.” Before he could answer, she answered herself. “But it’s what needs to be done.”

Her chin came up, defiant and proud.

Title: Watching and Waiting
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 100
Characters: Luna
Community: [livejournal.com profile] luna100

Luna was surprised how much real life still went on. Day in, day out – the sun rose and sat and people were going on with their lives. Because she’d been assigned to take watch today, she was forced to notice things that normally would have escaped her notice. Like the man delivering the Muggle newspapers across the street. He didn’t seem at all concerned that Voldemort was on the move.

The Quibbler had been running the story for days, assuring the readers that he would be defeated. She wanted to be the one who wrote the story telling everyone how.

Title: Keeping Watch

Word Count: 100

Zach circled the countryside three times before he saw evidence of an encampment. Within seconds, he was flying back towards town and the warm meal he knew Molly would have waiting.

“I need to tell Remus,” he panted as he stumbled through the door, “the giants are closer.”

“Dementors?” Megan asked as she scooped up the broom his cramped hands couldn’t hold any longer.

“Not that I could tell, but I was already cold and the only thoughts I have these days are of pain.”

She pushed him toward the kitchen. “Go. Eat. Maybe you’ll feel better when you’re warm.”

Title: Ready for Anything
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Ginny, Molly

“You’ll need this.”

Ginny smiled at her mother as the older woman entered the room, looking older but resigned to what was happening around her.

“Thanks, Mum.” The shiny fabric of the scarf was filmy in her hand as she tried to figure out how it would come in handy for what she was about to do.

“Let me,” Molly said gently, taking it back to tie around her daughter’s flaming-red hair. “This way you’ll be less noticeable.”

Tears sprang into Ginny’s eyes as she glanced in the mirror. Tonight she wasn’t Ginny Weasley. Tonight she was just another solider.

I'll have more soon
