So I come home this afternoon, fully ready to watch my Hulu shows and get some stuff all situated.
What do I find myself doing?
Genealogy stuff.
My dad was talking to a lady in our little town and he mentioned that he had some Howards in his family tree so this lady went home and brought him back some papers that she had looked up of his grandmother's family. It's a section we haven't ever really checked out, always going back through my Dad's FATHER'S family instead of his mother's. Yes, I can trace my family name back to the original sands of time thanks to a certain huge religious group that we have nothing to do with as of my Grandfather's time but that still likes to keep track of the name. I never realized just how cool the Howards and Rices were though! Just using their names (cause their interesting and unique) is getting me tons of hits. I may have also signed up for Ancestry.com but I haven't paid them any money so I can't get the good stuff.
For instance, I discovered that the last name "RICE" didn't exist must sooner than the 1700s because the name was changed from either Roys or Royce. It's WELSH! I never knew that before!
Have I done any of the stuff I'd planned? No, of course not. But I've hit a snag (records seem to be muddled around 1669 in Connecticut) so it's not as interesting as it was half an hour ago.
I do love being the Web Queen of the family, though!
