Snagged this from [livejournal.com profile] snapealina and thought I'd give it a try.

I'm doing Harry Potter because I know I have answers for all the questions if I do such a large fandom.

One True Pairing Ship: Hufflepuff/Ravenclaw - I can't pick just one of these couples but I love putting these two Houses together for romantic liasons!

Canon Ship: Megan/Zach - he was running BACK for her in Book 7! You know he was! Seriously, I don't like a lot of canon ships. They make me a little nauseous because everyone writes them and they've been done to death. I like the other possibilities much better. Stretch yourself! Write someone new, now and then!

"If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship: Snape/McGonagal - but far be it for me to tell you what not to write. I've actually read a really good fic that took this pairing to a really good conclusion. It just makes me hurt to think about it actually happening in normal canon context. But then I am the girl who likes those shadows of possibility in canon so...

Guilty Pleasure Ship: Caradoc/Marlene - I do love these First Order couples. They aren't a really big part of fandom and people get very picky about them because their lives aren't laid out for us like the people in the current generation. It's just interesting to think about who might have paired up and what might have happened differently if they'd made other decisions!

"I dabble a little" Ship: McGonagal/Hooch - although I'm dabbling more. Hooch interests me because her history goes so far back which means there is a TON of time that can be played with in fic writing.

"It's like a car crash" Ship: Ron/Giant Squid - I AM NOT ALONE! I actually ran across this pairing when I first starting writing fanfiction. What can I say? I read the fic! How could I not. You know you would have, too. I've written exactly one drabble for this but I don't know if it's anywhere I can get to at the moment...

"Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship: Draco/Hermione - I'd like to think that she could tame the wild whiner but you'd have to make me like Draco first. It's an interesting twist and I've seen some really interesting fics written for this couple.

"Makes no canon sense but why the hell not" Ship: Tonks/Kingsley - this will be one of my favorite ships until I die and no one will ever be able to tell me it can't work. It's right up there with Savage/Dawlish. It's just too good not to read/write/dream about.

"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship: Harry/Ginny... bleh! Ginny is too good to be wasted on the boy who lived. He can have anyone in the whole canon and he picked my Ginny!?!?! Leave her alone for someone who can really understand her! Take Luna instead!

"When all is said and done" Ship: Megan/Morag - I just love these girls so much. I keep meaning to write more about them but I'm at a loss for a storyline to follow at this point. They deserve the best! Maybe this fall/winter when my muse gets back from shopping on the Continent.

You know, I feel much the same way about Tonks/Kingsley. I've never really read much fic for it, but I've definitely liked it since OotP.

I feel the same way about Draco/Hermione, too! So many times, writers just... they change the characters completely and I don't want to read about these new people with familiar names. That might just be me, though. I have read one or two fics that handled this pair excellently.

I'm the Tonks/Kingsley phenomo-ficcer! I don't think I've moved all those fic over to this journal but I used to write them all the time!

I don't like it when people redeem Draco without giving decent support for it. Hermione doesn't like Draco the way he is right now. Ergo, the two of them need some support to be paired together. It can work but it takes some plot to make it work.

OTP answer - I totally agree! I completely ship Ravenpuff too. :P Best sets of pairings ever!

Definitely agree on the 'I dabble a little' ship; I adore Hooch. I guess the funny thing is that I used to dabble a lot, and then [livejournal.com profile] tetleythesecond unwittingly introduced me to Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank and a number of other characters...now I tend to write them more! I've written McGonagall/Pomfrey, now, which was fairly fun as well! But all the older witches have the same breadth of history to take advantage of, which I really do appreciate.

I am sad at your throwing Luna to the Boy Who Lived. :P

Morag! Morag is the best. I used to write quite a bit of Morag/Susan Bones and it was fantastic.

Ravenpuff is so cool because they're in the books just enough to give some depth but she left them alone so they're in the shadows where the ficcage is the best!

I'm supposed to be writing a McGonagal/Ivanova that I can't seem to wrap my muse around. It's driving me BATTY! The problem is that I know WHAT I want to write but I can't seem to get that on the page because the beginning is giving me fits. Guess that one's going to be written on the wire! *sigh*

Luna is the only character I can think of that could put up with his whinging without going completely INSANE. I can't even begin to imagine what life with Harry must be like but at least JKR didn't throw them together right away. There's still plenty of Ginny's life to play with before she straps on the ol' ball and chain.

I do adore Morag. She's been with a lot of different character through the years, depending on what I was writing about. She's been good, bad and indifferent. I hate when writers give her a nickname because her name is so "unpronounceable" to Americans because her name is the best part about her!

Good motto! Shadows: where the ficcage is best! Or alterations. Shadows: the realm of fanfiction. Or somehow combining it with the Lion King Quote about shadows which I presently can't recall (blasphemy).

Good luck with the McGonagall/Ivanova! I am so behind on my writing it's ridiculous. I think I have to be tackling an Augusta Longbottom/Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank soon. Won't THAT be interesting.

True story on the Morag nickname! I had a few stories where I toyed with the idea between her and Susan, whereby Susan eventually helps Morag realise she likes her name just fine. They used to be so fun to write. I do wonder what made me give them up.

The Shadows: Where Fanficcers Live! *grins* That would make a great shirt motto!

Maybe you gave up Morag and Susan because you moved on to the adults? I think that's been part of my problem. I can't seem to write anyone in school anymore. And if it is the school, it's the "shadows" (there's that word again) and doesn't feel like school. It's taken me a year to figure that out!

That is such an excellent motto! Would totally make an excellent shirt. I'd wear it!

It's funny, because I started out with the adults in the Harry Potter fandom. Then I moved on to Morag and Susan for some reason. I don't know if my mind has moved on to the idea of college and the real world. I suppose maybe it has...but then, in fiction works the characters were generally out of school, so it always has been.

I guess I just sign up for adults in fests, and I only tend to write for fests these days. There we go!

creeping on other peeps' journals>

LOL, I am SO GLAD that someone else has this reaction to Ron/Giant Squid. Its exactly like a car crash, I am horrified but just cannot look away!

I suggest it as a [livejournal.com profile] hp_humpdrabbles prompt constantly just to watch the mods squirm. *is ebil*

Mkay, that's all!
