In my post this morning, I may have mistakenly ruffled a few feathers. I was not writing to you as a friend's list of writers. I know most of you are writers and I like your stories. I've read a good majority of them and, if I haven't always read all of them, it's because there are times in my life when I'm too busy to do much more than scan my flist. I need to be better at bookmarking and I have a "my eyes only" post on the top of my journal that I'll start using. You are all good writers and I have the utmost respect for all of you. That's one of the reasons we're friends!

Okay, so I need you to think as readers. Have you read anything as a reader that you really enjoyed? Is there a community where you find good stories? I've got drabbles covered. I'm looking for longer stories. That's what I don't read enough of. I've got plenty of drabbles to keep me company. It's a genre I know well.

Once again, I am not critiquing any of you. I'm just wanting something to read.

No feathers ruffled here. I hate the dialogue-only stories with a passion myself, even though I know some people do them very well. Besides, you and I aren't even writing in the same fandoms anymore. *G*

Anatomy of a Prank (http://xylodemon.livejournal.com/443689.html) is BY FAR, one of the best, MOST FUNNY, pieces of fanfic I've ever read. It's about the Marauders while they were at school and James is trying to figure out how to woo Lily. Seriously. SO GOOD.

Also, anything by [livejournal.com profile] alyxbradford. She specializes in Bellatrix (especially pre-First War). This (http://alyxbradford.livejournal.com/55566.html) is one of my favorite pieces of hers (Rodolphus/Bellatrix), but to follow her EPIC timeline, you can check that out here (http://alyxbradford.livejournal.com/79116.html).

Those are my faves.

I have half an idea to make an actual recs post one day - right after I complete everything I'm committed to challenge wise, write more fic, and make a masterpost of my own fic...at the moment I just add to (private) memories or favourites or bookmark depending on which site I'm on. So I can find stuff again eventually but not without going through and re-reading it to see why I liked it so much in the first place.

I'd rec anything by [livejournal.com profile] pristineungift who writes Legend of the Seeker fic, all Rahl and Mord'Sith centric. Her epic Blood From A Stone is amazing but I don't think it'll make much sense without knowing the series better since it starts late season 2 and then veers off as AU but constant nods to the overall canon storyline. (I gave the ff.net link because I found it easier to track new chapters there than here at her LJ)

Do you happen to know what book Season 2 is from? I do plan on watching the show later this year (which is getting closer and closer and closer) so I will put a note to get back to this! Thanks!

I think it's mostly based around "Stone of Tears" the second book in the series.

I guess it all depends on what fandom you want to read in. I love longer stories, though, so I read quite a lot of them.

Twisting The Hellmouth has some amazing stories, but it's all crossovers with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so you need to like those. If you do, here (http://www.tthfanfic.org/authors.php?no=14933&list=recommended) are my favourite TtH-stories.

I don't really think we have that much preferences-crossover, though. I mostly read Harry/Ginny (two of my favourites are Falling slowly (http://community.livejournal.com/takingitinturns/10910.html) and Ginny duty (http://countwestwest.livejournal.com/3907.html)) and Hermione/Snape (two of my favourites are The buried life (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/834017/1/) and Beyond 84 Charing Cross Road (http://ashwinder.sycophanthex.com/viewstory.php?sid=19537)

When it comes to Buffyverse, a few of my favourites are In a lifetime (http://sparrow2000.livejournal.com/79065.html) (Xander), Black magic lies (http://moscow-watcher.livejournal.com/72195.html) (Xander/Faith), Sleepless (http://gabrielle.magical-worlds.us/viewstory.php?sid=18&index=1) (Willow/Spike), Spiral (http://waddis.livejournal.com/?skip=30&tag=fanfic%3A%20spiral) (Willow) and Payback (http://www.spikeluver.com/SpuffyRealm/viewstory.php?sid=35872) (Buffy/Spike).

I don't know if I've helped at all, but I wanted to try anyway!

Thank you! I have them on my list and you also gave me some new places to look around that I've never visited!
