The way Saturday nights should be spent
Oct. 6th, 2007 11:35 pmTonight was the Loreena McKennitt concert!
OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!
It was sooooo good! I had tears in my eyes nearly the entire time just because I was so amazed that I was hearing those great songs in such a great venue. Granted, we were really high up and the balcony was a bit too steep for my liking (I was a bad fan and didn't stand for the encores) but we could see the stage really well since we were straight back and could see the whole group.
She pretty much did an entire set of songs that I knew. If you've seen the PBS special from Nights from the Alhambra, you would have known the set. Seeing the music being played was just as cool as listening to it. The guy on violin (or filddle as they called it) was AWESOME but the lady on cello was not to be out done. The program is still out in the car so I can't give you a list of some of the other random instruments but I do remember that there was a Hurdy Gurdy because we had a long conversation about it.
I ended up buying the 3 disc set of Nights from the Alhambra because I really wanted the DVD that came with it. Can't wait to watch it. I got so many good ideas and had such a good time. It will bring up good memories!
Thank you Dawn and SaraJo for the ticket! Quite possibly the best birthday present EVER.
