I get to go on an adventure! My brother-in-law got a job in Boise. They offered it to him a week ago. He needs to be here by the 14th. That gives them two and a half weeks to get everything packed into their two cars (they don't have much but still not fun!) and moved across country. We're talking nearly from coast to coast.
I'd love to see some of the states that I've only seen from an airplane or touched donw in the airport so I automatically offered to fly down and help them drive back. This surprised my mother... who I don't think even thought of that until I mentioned it. She's now coming as well.
It would have made more sense for my Dad to have made the trip but he 1)hates flying and 2)has a bad back that isn't helped by sitting for long periods of time so the one person who DOESN'T have a job will be staying home.
Personally, I can't wait! I'm working on getting Zinc (iPod for those of you who haven't always been along for the ride that is my life) so packed full of songs that she'll sing for DAYS if I ask her to. Also have to figure out if I need an audiobook. Probably one, I would think. At the rate that I keep coming up with little things that I need for the trip, I won't have any room for clothes! One back, small enough for carry-on at the airport and to fit into the small space that I'm sure will be reserved for me.
And maybe a book that would be good to be read out loud? I LOVE to be read to! It started when I was younger and we would make the trip from Fallon to Hailey to see Gramma and Grampa. Mom would read herself hoarse. Even after I could read for myself, I still begged to be read to. And you know what I did in my head? I reconstructed the story. Added to it. Brought in different characters. Filled in the shadows.
I fanficced the heck out of the stories, in other words.
And now, I'm off to bed. It's barely ten but I have to make up for the fact that I was up way, way too late last night. Shame on me for thinking I could still do that at my age!
