Work today was miserable. Fever was down by the time I had to show up (around noon) so that was good but I was still "feeling poorly" for the first couple of hours. I never actually had a voice. This is not a good thing when said job requires a lot of talking. Needless to say, I was quiet so everyone else was quiet, too.

I drove down to Twin Falls last night for the NaNo Kick Off party. It was all of four other people and we spent most of the time eating/talking about ghost sightings in the area. 1)I could have eaten at home and 2)I'm not big on ghost stories, considering I live ALONE. The people were as strange as any of the other NaNo writing groups I've been part of and they're nice enough but just not worth an extra two hours out of my writing time. It's an hour there and an hour back over the BORINGEST stretch of road I've driven. Add to that the FOUR ACCIDENTS that happened in our area of the highway just this week and it wasn't quite my cup of tea. It will make my mom feel a whole lot better if I'm not driving there every week.

Of course, I got some great plotting done while I was driving. Discovered a lot about Marlene's back story which means I've got some rewriting to work on but it's all worth it because now I know where she's coming from. That was nice!

And I also got to talk about my favorite subject (writing) in November (NaNoWriMo) with people who understand the obsession. I've been writing there longer than anyone else (by one year) and have won more than anyone else (by six years) but I like being the "grandwriter" of the group.

All in all, it still means I miss my Colorado Springs NaNo writing group. They're a great group of people that got me through a tough couple of writing years when I really doubted myself (more so than normal). And I miss PANERA! *weeps* I really need to take a trip down to Salt Lake soon because I think they have Paneras. Will have to check that out.

Anyone else doing NaNo that isn't already on my friend's list? Let me know! I love to see writing counts! It helps motivate me!

You just need to take a sabbatical for the entire month of November and spend it here in Colorado. Then you can be with the Springs group AND I would get to see you! When you weren't with the NaNo group anyway... :-D
