Tom loved to play word games. As a child in the orphanage, he’d spent hours staring at letters, rearranging them to make new sentences. The Hogwarts library offered hours of entertainment for him. Some days he wouldn’t leave until the decrepit librarian remembered he was still around and kicked him out. His refuge was also his playground.
He’d been playing with the letters in his own name lately, seeing what there was to see. It intrigued him to think of keeping this name he’d learned to hate but making something new out of it. Something people would one day fear.
