Owen could almost see out of his left eye. It hadn’t exactly been a fair fight, but he hadn’t come out too bad, considering he had gotten the girl. With any luck, that tooth wouldn’t be missed. As he felt the empty space with his tongue, he contemplated what charm he could use to make him look more handsome for their date tonight.

“Feeling better?” Cool hands smoothed down his unblemished cheek. “That eye is going to take some time to heal but it makes you look quite roguish.”

“Like a pirate?” he asked, kissing her palm.

“Like my hero.”
