I realized today that I haven't lit up about anything fandomish in months. The last HP movie made me sad and then I couldn't get into Pottermore earlier and have been sulking and so have stayed away from any place online that has any mention of it so that I don't have to think about the fact that I'm acting like a ten year old not able to get the latest toy for Christmas. Most of the summer TV shows haven't moved me past a slight buzz of happiness. I was excited about the newest Bordertown anthology but I don't have many people in which to share this obsession with as I'm doing a reread of all the books I own in that world. Stargate is dwindling or I'm pulling away... I can't tell which. I might be obsessed with Pinterest but that is such a diverse place that I don't really feel as if I'm narrowing in on one certain thing other than the hunt to have MORE pins.
Aster assures me that this is normal for me this time of year. I shouldn't even be ATTEMPTING to write as this is normally my "off" time of year as my muse rests before the big push in October/November/December/January. I shouldn't be looking for a creative outlet. I should just be. But I don't want to be. I want to create. I am but it's not on paper. I've been working on jewelry with a girl at work. This is taking up a lot of my creative juices. I'm getting ready for Vacation Bible School at our church where I'm in charge of the weaving craft when I'm not singing/MCing. That's really going to sap me for anything creative after that's over because not only do I have to get through that week with my sanity in tact, I'm going to have to eventually pick up my house. It's full of "areas". There's a the yarn area and the T-shirt dying area and the bead area and the box area and the book area and on and on and on. It's going to need a major overhaul here in a few weeks.
I can't even really get excited about the upcoming Conan movie. As
everythingshiny said awhile back, Jason Momoa is a "special snowflake" and he definitely is at that. He makes a person get creative if they want to remain a fan. Oh well.
Nothing is tugging at my heart. If you were to drop by and ask me how I was doing, I would merely say "Good. And you?" and leave it at that. I wouldn't be driven to tell you all about my newest obsession. As I look around, I don't see anything on the horizon for me to be driven towards. Of course, you never SEE an obsession before it's actually an obsession. That is not the nature of the beast.
I'm going to shoot for a Harry Potter reread sometime in the next few weeks. I should be done with my Bordertown reread in the next few days. Thinking of picking up one of my history books and reading through it. I have enough new Sara Paretsky books waiting that I should push for a complete reread of her stuff. I also have a nearly complete set of Lawrence Sanders staring at me everyday. Who knows where I'll land when it comes to my reading material!

Love is as much of an object as an obsession. Everybody wants it, everybody seeks it, but few ever achieve it. Those who do will cherish it, be lost in it, and among all, will never... ever forget it.

Speaking of summer shows: Have you seen Switched at Birth? Definitely the best show of this summer.

Date: 2011-08-11 04:56 am (UTC)From:After I wrote this entry, I started getting excited about NaNo. I really need to start working on some of my original now (I'm working on a four parter so can do one for NaNo) but I can't seem to get the words on paper. Guess I just need to mull it over some more. The words will come. They always do.
And I'm making some really cool crafty stuff in the meantime... which means the house needs to be cleaned. Ugh! No wonder my muse is hiding!!!!

Date: 2011-08-11 05:08 am (UTC)From:I dropped Teen Wolf after three episodes. Everything about it annoyed me! I'm still watching Pretty Little Liars, but only because of Holly; it's kind of boring me this summer. Other shows I really am enjoying are Necessary Roughness and Alphas (which is my second favourite summer show).
I'm glad you're confident that the words will come! :)
Ugh, but cleaning sucks! xD

Date: 2011-08-11 05:25 am (UTC)From:I think I'm just leery of summer shows this year. I got so excited about them last year and they're only around for THREE MONTHS. If that! And no reruns! So you can't even cling to them during the rest of the year. Of course, there weren't many summer shows I liked last year! Maybe I should get over myself and just enjoy them while I have them!

Date: 2011-08-11 09:32 am (UTC)From:I KNOW! I didn't really mind that much last year - the only summer show I watched was PLL, and that got kind of upgraded to a summer/winter show, since it came back in January for a couple of episodes. But now, with SaB, I can't stand having to wait NINE MONTHS before it's back!
The waiting is the worst part for me, not so much the fact that they're only around for three months - I watch a lot of British TV too, and they've got seasons with 13, 8 or even only 6 episodes. Flemish TV is usually 13 episodes, too. But having to wait nine months before it continues? That's hell!
