Farscape
1. I got into this fandom strictly by accident. I got into SGA (see below) and kept running into these references to Farscape and Aeryn/John. Since I find both Ben Browder and Claudia Black to be wonderfully good looking, I decided I needed to watch this show. In typical Lar fashion, I watched the first episode on Netflix and then proceeded to BUY the DVDs for the whole show so that I could watch it faster. The show is incredible to look at although I got sort of lost in the plot in the middle. If I'd written it, I would have done it differently but I think we can say that about everything we watch.
2. I'm not really in the fandom so much as I lurk in some places. I've never even written anything for it and actually dropped out of farscapeland because I found I couldn't create on demand for this fandom. It's probably one that will always be on the sidelines because I expect great things from both Ben and Claudia in the future so there will always be crossovers!
3. I love ANY episode with John and Aeryn being snarky at each other. That underlying UST was SO GREAT! They are pretty, pretty, pretty together.
4. I lurk in a few places but, like I said, I don't write in it so my participation is minimal.
5. It would be cool if there were more shows like this and that will only happen if people actually WATCH the cool shows so I think people should watch it. Like I said, it was hard for me to follow certain plot points so I don't think it's for the faint of heart and you can't jump in the middle and expect to understand anything.
Doctor Who
1. I've been watching this from the very first moment it came to the United States. There was this cool kid that I knew as a friend of a friend and I'd read on his blog about how he was watching and how much he loved it and then I saw a fanvid with Captain Jack, Nine and Rose and fell in love with it without knowing ANYTHING ABOUT IT! I will admit that I read the Wiki before seeing the show, too.
2. Oh, I'm going to love this fandom forever. I mean, the concept has been around for FOREVER already so I'm sure that I'll be sharing new shows with my nephews when they're old enough to love it (because I'm going to push scifi just to get my sister back for being so horrible about it) and then again with their kids!
3. As a matter of fact, I do have some favorite books for this fandom! I've actually read quite a few of the tie-in books and my favorite is, of course, The Stone Rose. My favorite episodes would have to be The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, Blink and The Doctor's Daughter.
4. I don't write enough DW fic! I have all these ideas but this is one fandom that I don't hang out at enough communities for it to be the first thing that comes to mind. There are some worthwhile ideas that I have stored in my head so maybe... one day...
5. YES! This is such a smartly written/acted show. While there are some very definite sci fi elements to this, there are also some just normal, every day problems that make it very accessible to everyone.
Stargate Atlantis
1. This is an interesting story. It all started with needing a picture for a PB (Played By) in a world that Aster and I write together (slowly - so very slowly). I needed an actor with some ethnicity so I went to this random website with ethnic looking actors and found Jason Momoa. I had no idea who this guy was so I went to IMDB. This was 2008 so he was pretty firmly doing Stargate Atlantis and, in typical Lar fashion, I went to Netflix and watched his first episode. I liked it so much that I went back to the beginning. By the time I was through with the first season, I had bought the other four seasons.
2. I like writing in this fandom so much that I think I'm going to be in this fandom for awhile. It's still going pretty strongly for a franchise that doesn't have anything on TV. Even though they said no to the movie, doesn't mean that we can't hope and pray they decide they were misguided fools. I still haven't watched all of the episodes of SG-1 so I still have unplumbed depths.
3. My favorite episodes are Broken Ties and Outcast. I've read part of one of the books but couldn't quite handle how they'd written Ronon (you don't underestimate my guy, after all!) so I never finished it. I don't plan on reading the new books because OMG HOW COULD THEY and that's all I'm going to say about that.
4. Why yes, I participate in the fandom. *grins* I read, I write, I make some graphics when pushed. I think I enjoy this fandom more than any other one that I've ever been involved in. There aren't just a few main characters to pick from, either. I love how the fandom is fully behind the secondary characters, as well. While I love a lot of the minor pairings, I don't feel like I'm being judged for it. That's nice! After coming from the HP fandom where I had to EXPLAIN who some of the WRITTEN CHARACTERS were to some of the more abrasive fans, it's nice to be able to pick any two (or three... or four) characters and find a community dedicated to them!
5. I do! I think it's a fun show. Aliens, cool big city, big spaceships, little spaceships, pretty men with guns and thigh holsters, fight scenes to die for, interesting plots that can be watched out of order if need be, the ability to bring back characters over and over and over again after they die.
