Adam... Adam... Adam... When will Mercy ever give you a chance to explain yourself? And will you take the chance to tell her? Once again, not much but a small drabble. It's got potential for something bigger which is the purpose of this whole thing.

A wedge of light pushed through the edges of the doorframe, eager to infiltrate the darkness beyond its borders. Mercy narrowed her eyes as if she could force her other sense to take over. The only way in was this door. There was no other window or entrance where she might catch a glimpse of what lay beyond. She hated not knowing what was going on. If there was any sounds, they were too faint even for her sharp hearing.
Taking a deep breath, she thought through her strategy. Kick the door hard. If it opened, run through it with her fists at the ready. If it didn’t open, kick it again.
Before she could shift her weight to her back foot, the doorknob turned. Skulking back into the darkness, Mercy waited. Maybe she wouldn’t have to try so hard to figure out what was going on.
Through the much wider crack, she could see a crisp white shirt and deep black trousers. A well-crafted shoe. “Next time, I’ll-“
“Bastard,” she screamed, not even caring who might be behind the last person she figured to be in the room. Without any other warning, she reached out for the doorknob and pulled the door closed. There was little resistance but she knew he was still there. A film of red clouded her vision as anger took over. With a fierce yell, she kicked out with all her might, sending the door flying back against Adam.
She wanted to hurt him for being here. The reasons she’d been sent on this mission was because he’d explicitly told the wolves they weren’t allowed anywhere near the property. Since she wasn't a wolf, it had fallen on her to investigate. But if the wolves weren’t supposed to be here on order of their Alpha, what was the Alpha doing here? Was he hiding something?
Suddenly she wanted him to answer for his deeds. “Come out, Adam. Come out and explain what you’re doing cohorting with the demons.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” His voice was calm as if he’d been able to jump out the way. Damn him for knowing her every move before she ever knew she did.
“I know enough. I know betrayal when I see it.”
“Look again,” he called but she was turned away, starting back the way she’d come. He wasn’t going to be able to talk himself out of this situation. She was tired of letting him know all her secrets while he kept hold of his.
