The beach in winter is no party spot, especially along the Washington beach where the rocks are still frigidly cold in July. A mist hung over the water today, a haunting sight for those looking for a good time. Leah wasn’t looking for a good time. She was trying to run away from the voices spiraling through her head.
“Can I help you with anything?”
She hadn’t realized she’d been keening. The man who stopped to help glared. Her gaze was unnerving him.
“I’m fine. Thank you.”
He looked unconvinced but moved on, the voices filling the void he left.
