Ring the New Year In... I'm ready to play
Jan. 1st, 2008 08:57 amWell, I only read 119 books this past year. That was a total of 37487 pages with an average of 319 per book (which isn't bad!). I read the most books in January, November and December. This was a "weak" reading year, I think. If you're interested in the list, it's here for your viewing pleasure. There are a couple of books I highly recommend off the list and all the ones that I especially liked have two exclamations points in front of them.
This year, I want to read 150 books (to beat my high of 144 set in 2006) but I also want to make sure that I'm keeping well-rounded so I want to make sure I read 5 books in each of the following categories: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Western, Romance, Mystery, Children/Juvenile, Young Adult, Classics, Non-Fiction, Biography, Audiobooks, Edited Recommended. I know that some books these days fit into two of these categories at a time but I'm going to go for the "dominant" category when I can. This means that I'll have a main list that includes the title, author, number of pages (I want to have something to compare this year to) and genre.
I also want to
... read through the Bible in a year (I have the Bible that's split up into sections but I just haven't used it)
... memorize a set group of Bible verses every month (because my memorization skills are waning and I want to keep that skill up)
... complete one cross-stitch project all by myself (most likely the Raggedy Ann picture I got years ago and haven't started. I can't put my new stocking on this list because I have a sneaking suspicion that I'll have Mom help me with this one)
... finish three stories (yes, all the way to the proper THE END)
... see if I can't beat my paperbackswap.com totals of this year (260 books sent out and 275 books brought in)
