I took Rory to the vet today and I think she's not speaking to me any longer! This morning she was staying completely off the leg but it wasn't more swollen. Since I had to work and her appointment wasn't until afternoon and my house is nearly 45 minutes away from the vet, they let her stay there for the day. When I got there, she was walking on the foot again! Turns out, it was an abscess and it had started draining while she was there so all they had to do was clean it out (that did not make her happy!) and give her an injection of antibiotics. I didn't care about the shot costing more than the liquid because I didn't think she was going to let me give her the meds for 7-10 days!

She must be feeling better (or she's still angry) because she's not hanging out near me like she has been the last few days. I spoke too soon. Guess she's not that angry because she wants some attention. She's still stress shedding. Lovely.

I have discovered one of the reasons that the dog might have stopped chewing on her chewy bones.

Tonight, under my chair, I caught the cat rubbing the top of her head all over one of them. I'm sure it feels good to her to have that rough texture coming in contact with the part of her that she likes to have pet.

But maybe... just maybe... Rory is mean and she's marking it to smell like one of her toys so the Spencer will leave it alone.

It's a thought!

And now I need to go to bed because I've got to get my sleep patterns under control and back into the "normal people" time periods!

Imagine a square. This square is the front part of my house. Now imagine that the square is split in half. Take one of those halves and split them in half again so you have a rectangle (the living room) and two smaller squares (the front bedrooms). Do you have it in your head?

The rooms don't connect to each other, only to the living room. One of the doors is always closed because I don't need the animals in Gramma's room (she's still got stuff in there and I don't want to lose the cat in her closet). The other is open and that's my storage area and also where Spencer spends the day.

All that explanation for this little snippet:

The cat and dog are chasing each other around the house. The cat jumped behind the open door of the first bedroom and what does Spencer do? She ran to the other room and stared at the door.

I think she expected the cat to come out of the other room.

She's blonde. What can I say.

Rory has decided she wants to sleep in the same corner of the couch as Spencer. This one time, Spencer let her.

I am the proud new mommy of a kitty! Spencer has a new little sister! My phone needs to be recharged so I don't have a pick yet but she's a sweet little thing. From what I can gather, she's a Seal Tortie who may have a longer coat than I care to have but I don't think she'll be overly fluffy. She looks something like this but with more color.

I'e been playing around with three different names in the last four hours. First it was Fauna. It fits with her coloring but it wasn't quite right. Too... fae. So then it was Seraphina, a name I like very much. She's a bit too energetic for such a "lap cat" name.

Then I tried Rory and the little darling actually turned her head when I called her. I might have been a coincidence but it's good enough for me. Incidentally, when I was looking up names before I picked her up, Rory is a nickname for Aurora (or Loralei, depending on what fandom you follow *grins*) which fits.

Spencer is still not sure about her but I think they'll both get along. A cat who won't back down (but not overly aggressive) and a dog who is something of a pushover (but knows what she wants). As long as they both love me, I don't really mind if they never grow to love each other.
