I just finished watching Dollhouse (except for the 13th episode which Hulu won't be showing) and it was AWESOME! If you didn't watch it... well, you're out of luck because Hulu only goes 5 episode back so you can't start it from the beginning but be looking for the DVDs! Get them from Netflix if you don't believe me how cool the show is. HELLO! JOSS WHEDOM IS MADE OF AWESOME! Incidently, Whedon is on Twitter. @drhorrible don't you know!

This was my first day back at work after 10 days of vacation (although 5 of those were days off but still...) and it was HARD! My body had to get used to not being able to just lounge around. Even when I was packing my sister's apartment up, I could still stop from time to time and do something fun and relaxing. Work is HARD! *grins*

We're in for a week's worth of rain, from what I can tell from the little I've looked at the weather. Today we're already at Flash Flood warnings! We do need the water so we aren't complaining too loudly. I did miss seeing the sun today, though. Not that my shoulders want to see too much more of the sun anytime soon.

I'm hoping to get to stop at Burger King when we're in Boise next weekend (still things at Mandie's place to move to the new house) so I can get at least ONE of the Star Trek glasses. I love fast food chain glasses. It's a weakness of mine. I still have some of the original Disney glasses (although they are plastic) from McDonalds. They're some of my most prized possessions!

My hair has begun to do odd things. I shouldn't complain because it's been two months and I have quite a bit of hair. Everyone says so! Of course, they have the same amount of hair but my growth is just more noticeable - it sticks straight up! I like that it's mostly up so I don't do anything to make it lay down. Some parts have started to lean to the side but I almost look "contemporary bedroom chic" these days! In other words, like I just got out of bed. Yep. I PLANNED it that way. *grins*

First... I love Twitter because it lets me be sarcastic to a limited audience. Last night I listened to some of the 10th Wonder podcasts that I've been missing and discovered that Greg Grunberg and James Kyson Lee (two of my favorite actors because of the series) are on Twitter. If this morning is any indication, they are VERY ACTIVE Twitterers.

Second... Did you know that Teal is the official color of Ovarian Cancer Awareness? There is a site called Teal Toes that is calling for people to paint their toes Teal to spread awareness of the disease. Two things... I don't wear a lot of open-toed shoes or I would be all over this BUT I can do this for my sister's wedding because we're wearing flip flops (at this point) and her colors are close to Teal! *g*

Third... I really need to create a database of the addresses I'm sending letters to so that I don't have to use the phone book when sending out thank yous and I can remember who has already gotten a letter. I'm too lazy to send one out, though.

Fourth... Coke points have become easier to redeem but I'm still miffed how hard it is to get the prizes. I have the points but the site doesn't cooperate and then it'll be gone when I go back to try again! *pouts*

Fifth... Hi, Randye!
lar_laughs: (drink coffee - do stupider things)
This week, I didn't get my TV Guide until today. Last week's TV Guide, that is. I tend to pick up my magazines on Mondays (and my comics on Wednesdays!) so I have a tendency to miss out on getting TV Guide on time. Of course, I read it for the articles and not as a means of telling me when my shows are on.

And you'll have to excuse me if I tell you something here, thinking it's brand new and fresh, and you're like "Uh, Lar... that's very old news." I only know things if they're on Fox News or the Golf Channel. I live vicariously through NetFlix and my old(ish) copies of TV Guide.

Here's a tidbit that caught my eye and made me laugh out loud. It's from the Inbox:

On Heroes there are people who fly, travel through time and turn themselves into nuclear meltdowns, but the part that Tim Eimer finds hard to believe is that too many people could see an eclipse? If you're looking for a science lesson, Heroes probably isn't the show for you. -Bobby Blankenship, Arlington, TX

EXACTLY! Why do people try to make shows like that "normal"? It's like expecting real medicine out of Grey's Anatomy or real teenagers out of Gossip Girl. It's TV! It's supposed to be unrealistic!

I kept seeing ads for Dr. Horrible on Facebook and kept thinking that the main character looked like Neil Patrick Harris. Come to find out - it IS NPH! Hooray! Joss Whedon... does that man ever sleep? It's newly out on DVD and I think I shall have to purchase it. There's an "entirely new musical commentary sung by the cast and creators, mocking the very idea of tell-all, fan-pandering DVD commentary tracks." Hey! I'm one of those fans who love those commentary tracks! *grins*

New shows coming out...

Castle with Nathan Fillion. I'm sure glad he's coming back to TV. This looks like a show that I'll have to push to see. It looks interesting and who wouldn't to watch something dubbed "2009's answer to Jessica Fletcher"? I'm hoping that's tongue in cheek.

True Beauty looks mildly interesting. Anything Ashton Kutcher decides to think up always has a twist... at least the first time around.

Reaper is coming back. I thought that show had died a nice quiet death but I guess they're bringing it back for the winter doldrums, seeing if anyone is bored enough to get excited about it. I wish I could like it. I really do. I mean, come one! Bret Harrison! So cute!

The Biggest Loser has some girls from Idaho. Will have to watch just for that! We normally only watch that show when Noodle is home. She likes it but I still can't watch it without cringing at all the exercise!

Kings looks interesting! "It's a mythological time but set in the present." Hmmmm... I like stuff like that.

Watched Flashpoint last week. Actually, very interesting. Bet I see it again!

Ahhh... here's what I was looking for... Dollhouse! Once again, a show I will need to find on the web or wait for it to come out on NetFlix so I just hope it sticks around! Personally, the premise as I've read about it sounds really interesting and exactly what Joss is so perfect at. I just wish the TV Execs got him! He's a cult-leader. Eventually someone will get that.

Anyone seen this? A remake of The Electric Company on PBS. Hey, you guuyys! The reboot of the classic kid's series focuses on a group of teens trying to keep their neighborhoods safe with a set of reading superpowers. Okay, if anyone were to get superpowers from reading, it should be me! Why hasn't it happened yet! Do I need to move somewhere different? Is there not enough crime on these Idaho streets to warrent giving out reading superpowers? Darn!

Wow. A new Real World. I would have thought that premise had been done and redone to death and beyond. Oh well. Good luck, kids! Don't think this is going to get you too far.

Best and Worst Dressed...
Top nods, of course, goes to Gossip Girl's Serena van der Woodsen. Worst dressed... drum roll please. Betty Suarez in Ugly Betty. Only goes to show that the costumers on the shows are doing their jobs! Do love that Whoopi Goldberg and the Real Housewives of Orange County got nods in the Worst Dressed Category. Hmmm...

There you have it. Thanks for reading the TV Guide with me this morning!

No more new Heroes until the Monday after the Super Bowl. Have asked Dad to verify the date to what I remember it being. Yep. The Super Bowl is still in February.

spoilers )

Mom has just discovered my cup of water in the microwave. Put it in there about three hours ago. Unfortunately, it's not still hot. Bummer.

If you think of it, be sure to visit my Book Poll and put in a couple of your favorite books. You're not just helping me out so feel free to put anything, even if you know I've read it!

Winter is now here. It's official! I doubt this snow will be going away soon. And after this storm (which spent some time blowing in from THE EAST) leaves, we'll be in for some very, very cold tempuratures! I need to find my hat!

First and foremost... we have no snow on the ground. It hasn't snowed since Voting Day. If anything, we've had our share of FOG... which means the ground is still warm. This is concerning because I now live in the land that snow built. Without snow, the mountain doesn't open. It's already bad enough that no one will be working after December thanks to the crappy housing market... even worse that a lot of people I know are going into foreclosure because they can't afford their house payment and the banks aren't working with them. These aren't new home owners, either. These are people who have been in their house FOR YEARS. So no one is working in construction and now no one is working on the mountain... and things are getting tense.

Second... I've had to suck it up and start saving money in various ways. This means no paperbackswap anymore and remembering to bring my lunches each day. This means I have to read the books that I have currently (which will take me a good year, I'm sure but EEEK! NO NEW BOOKS!) and I can't follow my whim each day and just buy whatever I want for lunch. No more sushi! No more random grazing from the deli. I've even cut back on those Starbucks drinks that you can get in the soda cooler. At this point, I'm just glad to have a job and have enough money for a car payment!

Third... I apologize to all the Syelle shippers out there. Last night was all my fault. I started to like the ship about two weeks ago. Thought it was the coolest thing since digital watches (get it?). You know my track record by now. Every couple I like is BOUND to die a slow and painful death. So, I'm sorry!

Fourth... There is nothing more funny than 40 year old women trying to find Book 4 of the Twilight series. Randye actually cursed when she heard that one of the libraries in town has 4 copies overdue and they can't give her a definite date when she can get a copy there. It's good for a few laughs.

Fifth... I completed NaNo with 59,000 official words. Not sure where those other random 4k went but who knows. I might have missed a document or maybe I miscounted. I'm just glad I got to the NaNo limit even if I was FAR from my limit. The muse decided the story wasn't working on the 20th and there was nothing I could do but sit back and try to figure out what wasn't working and what was. I'm starting the rewrites tomorrow (was too lazy today and Tuesdays are hard to get around to writing what with the family dinner and all) and I think they WILL make the story better so I can't fault the muse! She's right once again!

Sixth... Have I mentioned here that my cousin is having twins in April? TWINS! They're sure to be beautiful as their brother is ADORABLE in that Charlie Brown, round head, big smile sort of way. But twins! That means there will always be a little around who needs holding! I can't wait! I do so love being an aunt. I'm not as good at it as my sister but she's had a lot more practice than I have.

*sigh* It makes sense to support the writers instead of whining so here I go.

I got this from the [livejournal.com profile] wga_supporters community, originally posted by [livejournal.com profile] bardicvoice.

I read through the community and it does make sense. As a writer, even an unpaid, untested one, I should support these people who are asking for a cut of something they created. It's their words that we watch over and over again on DVD and iTunes downloads. Why shouldn't they get a cut?

And I don't want a TV full of reality shows. It smacks of that Doctor Who episode that I can't remember the name of that deals with Satellite 9. A world of either continuous news or continuous reality shows. No fun!

Someone mentioned that this strike doesn't just affect the current writers but all those people that are struggling to break into the business or will someday be in the business.

I'm not exactly sure what I can do other than to complain to the networks if it becomes unindated with too many reality shows or reruns. Someone else on the site mentioned looking for good articles and support the newspeople that are writing about the strike. I could make sure I'm only giving out true information in the inevitable conversations about what's going on.

NO MORE TALKING! EVERYBODY GO!

I couldn't resist. I sent in an email to The 10th Wonder podcast because I couldn't help myself. Once again, someone is disparaging Niki's power. Yes, it's a power. Don't make me pull out my information. You don't want to read what I can write about this one. It's a power. She's a Hero.

This guy wrote in with a really good theory about Peter and the disappearing tattoo, wondering if maybe he has the virus and that Niki/Jessica had the virus all along.

No. No. No. No!

She has a power. It's not the virus! But I like parts of the theory and here is what I wrote in... )

Anyone else have any theories? I swear, I'll listen to them but don't think that I won't respond if you try to take on Niki/Jessica. *grins*

And if you really want to get a good run down of the show and some good theories and spoilers, check out The 10th Wonder podcast. I got it from iTunes but they also have their own website (I haven't gone there lately so I don't have a true link but it's the10thwonder.com) where you can pick it up.

Sam... the "beauty" boy... where do I know him from? Was he on another show? Does he look like an actor? Please tell me I know him from TV.

Only one person on my flist has posted anything about tonight's first episode of Heroes... and [livejournal.com profile] kirixchi only just started watching like last week.

So, anyone have any thoughts? )
